New Delhi: Yours favourite internet search engine ‘Google’ has turned a year older today and is celebrating its 14th birthday with a doodle of a rich chocolate cake.

Today, ‘Google’ has been inscribed all across the animated cake doodle and seconds after opening the site, the 14 candles atop the delicacy get extinguished. A click on the doodle displayed a list of Google products.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in September 1998. Since then, the company has laudably hit numerous milestones in the web world.

Page and Brin met at Stanford University in 1995. By 1996, they had built a search engine (initially called BackRub) that used links to determine the importance of individual web-pages. And the rest is history.

Google has many logos since its renaming from BackRub to its present name. The official Google logo was designed by Ruth Kedar.

The company also includes various modifications                          including humorous features, such as cartoon modifications of their logo to signify holidays, birthdays of famous people, and major events, such as the Olympics.

These special logos are popularly known as Google Doodles. Google subsidiary YouTube has also featured some custom logos to highlight special events. These special logos have been unofficially nicknamed as ‘Yoodles’.
